Indian spices include a variety of spices grown across the Indian subcontinent (a sub-region of South Asia).With different climates in different parts of the country, India produces a variety of spices, many of which are native to the subcontinent, while others were imported from similar climates and have since been cultivated locally for ,turmeric,cardamom,cumin are some.

When the first edition of this book was published in , the art of making a tipi was almost lost, even among American Indians. Since that time a tremendous resurgence of interest in the Indian way of life has occurred, resurgence due in part, at least, to the Laubins' life-long efforts at preservation and interpretation of Indian culture.
